Have you heard the exciting news? You can now enjoy Chinese desserts like the famous towel cakes right here in Korea! Intrigued, I visited Happiness Dessert near Kondae Station, where this treat is served. For those who’ve tried it in China, aren’t you curious about how it compares? Let me take you through my firsthand experience.
The first dessert that caught my eye at Happiness Dessert was the Taro Sweet Potato Roll Cake. From the moment I saw it, I knew I had to try it. The ultra-thin crepes layered with airy fresh cream melted in my mouth with every bite—it was pure bliss.
In Korea, this cake is priced at around 7,900 KRW, a bit more expensive than in China, but it offers a unique charm worth savoring. Though slightly smaller than the original "Maojunjel" version from China, the delicate sweetness and texture make it a satisfying treat.

Another highlight was the Custard Roll Cake. Topped with a dusting of coconut flakes, this dessert might not appeal to everyone. While the custard and fresh cream combination was pleasant, I personally preferred the taro sweet potato flavor.
But what truly stole the show was the Taiwanese-style shaved ice, Yuyuan. This is an absolute must-try! It features a mix of taro paste, chewy glutinous rice balls, coconut jelly, and taro balls in various sizes, delivering a refreshing and unique taste that’s perfect for dessert lovers.
Why not treat yourself to these delightful sweets and experience a bit of Chinese dessert culture in Korea?
