Hello! It’s Awesomek here, back with another Jeju travel post. Today, we’re heading down south to explore some must-visit eateries in Seogwipo. Whether you're looking for global-famous kimbap, fresh sashimi, or unique Jeju-style sundae, I’ve put together a list of standout spots to suit every taste. If you’re planning to hike Hallasan or just need a quick but nutritious meal, check out these spots I’ve personally visited in Seogwipo!
If you're in Seogwipo, Oneunjeong Kimbap is a local legend not to be missed. Located at 2 Dongmundong-ro in Seogwipo, this kimbap shop has gained such popularity that it was even featured on Sikshin Road. From the moment they open, lines start forming outside. They keep it simple with just five types of kimbap, like anchovy, tuna, and cheese, yet people from all over come just for these flavors. I picked up two rolls, anchovy and tuna, before my Hallasan hike, and the savory, umami-packed taste of the anchovy kimbap was truly unforgettable. You might even spot a celebrity or two here! Note that there’s no parking directly in front of the shop, so be sure to use nearby lots.
A meal in Namokdo Restaurant offers the kind of unique experience that sticks with you. Located at 60 Gasiri-ro 613beon-gil in Pyeoseon-myeon, this place gained fame through Baekban Journey with Heo Young-man and has set a new standard for Jeju-style sundae. Unlike the usual glutinous rice or glass noodle fillings, Jeju sundae is packed with blood sausage, giving it a richer, meatier flavor. I tried it with sundae guk (sundae soup) and was impressed by the balanced taste. It can be an acquired taste, so if you’re new to Jeju sundae, try it with ssamjang or salt. With great quality at a reasonable price, Namokdo is highly recommended for sundae lovers! Free parking is available.
For sashimi lovers, Ujeong Hoe Center is a must on your Seogwipo food tour. Located at 38 Jungang-ro 54beon-gil, it’s conveniently close to the Olle Market, making it a popular spot. Here, you can choose from various sashimi platters, and I opted for the red sea bream and sweet shrimp—both incredibly fresh! The shrimp had a slightly robust texture typical of shellfish, which was delicious when dipped in lemon water with wasabi or in spicy chili sauce. What’s even better? A generous sashimi platter is priced at only 50,000 KRW, making it an unbeatable deal. Free parking is available. If you’re planning a trip to Seogwipo, why not add these spots to your itinerary and embark on a culinary adventure? I’m sure you’ll make some unforgettable memories along the way!
