Power Introvert "I" NCT's Doyoung recently appeared on the variety show I Live Alone, where he introduced his favorite tteokbokki spot. Thanks to him, the restaurant now even offers a "Doyoung SET," although this newfound popularity has made it a bit challenging for introverts to visit again without drawing attention. Later, Doyoung shared yet another of his go-to places, sparking buzz around that restaurant too. Today, let’s dive into two of his beloved eateries and a beautiful firefly spot he and his brother Gong Myung enjoy!
Are you a fan of tteokbokki? It’s one of those dishes that calls to you, even late at night! Recently, I stopped by Norunsan Tteokbokki in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul – made famous by none other than NCT’s Doyoung. This spot is open 24/7, so you can satisfy your craving anytime. I tried the popular "Doyoung SET," a hefty combination that includes tteokbokki, an assortment of fried treats, and soondae (Korean blood sausage) – more than enough for two people to share! The sauce was thick and flavorful, pairing well with the crispy fried snacks like kim-mari (fried seaweed roll) and vegetable fritters. And the chewy texture of the rice cakes? Unbeatable! If you’re ever in Korea, make sure to visit for a taste of this unique, spicy delight.
Dining in Seoul can feel like a true adventure. Now, let’s head over to Dongdaemun Gopchang near Konkuk University. This spot is a hit with spice and savory flavor lovers alike. Known for the Crab Chicken Stew that Doyoung loves, this place combines chicken, crab, and even gopchang (beef intestine) for an unforgettable dish. While it’s not on the regular menu, you can request it through the staff – an insider tip that feels like a special treat! The blend of ingredients creates a rich, umami-packed broth that’s both comforting and addictive. One taste and you’ll understand why it pairs perfectly with a glass of soju. This spot has even earned a spot on New York Times’ recommended list, attracting visitors who are eager to explore Korea’s culinary gems.
If you’re seeking a peaceful, nature-filled retreat, I recommend the abandoned Gudun Station in Yangpyeong! Doyoung and his brother Gong Myung once visited this spot and were mesmerized by its serene beauty and fireflies – a truly enchanting memory, he says. After hearing about it, I couldn’t resist checking it out myself. Although the station no longer operates, this only adds to its quiet charm. The area is virtually free of artificial lighting at night, making it easy to spot fireflies in the summer, especially with family or for a photo-worthy getaway. It’s a popular destination during the warmer months, and I think it’s a fantastic place to create your own special memories.
These are just a few of the must-visit spots inspired by NCT Doyoung. See you for more exciting adventures and memorable locations to share in our next journey!
